EM Talks About Proof, Stress
Our man Eminem loosens up in the December issue of Vibe magazine on the death of best friend Proof and the pressures of the entertainment industry. Listen up:
• On Proof's demise: "I was just like, I want to be home. ... I got to be with my kids, Hailie and Alaina (his niece). They'd known Proof all their lives, and I don't think they understand death. ... It was my main goal to downplay it so it didn't upset the kids. But I had some days that I couldn't walk. I mean literally. I couldn't get out of bed."
• On the burden of success: "I went for eight solid years nonstop. ... It's all trains, planes and automobiles, and the pressure of trying to perform in front of all those people and not miss a word. ... People are counting on you: They bought tickets to see you. All that pressure, plus the pressure I felt at home. I just felt like, 'Man I got to fall back.' "

EM Slams Mariah On Shade 45 4 Denying Romance
Eminem is scolding Mariah Carey for denying they were once an item. "Yes, me and Mariah did have a relationship for about a good six, seven months," the rapper said on his Sirius Satellite Radio channel, Shade 45. "But it didn’t work. I wasn’t really into what she was into; our personalities collided. She’s a diva, and I’m a little more regular, I guess."

EM Finally Speaks On The Re-Up
What began as a raw street mixtape intended to introduce some new Shady Records artists has turned into a full-fledged album release called Eminem Presents: The Re-Up.
"What happened is that the material was so good and the tracks were getting produced like a regular album," Eminem said in a statement about the compilation he executive produced, which is slated for release December 5. "Instead of putting it out there rough and unfinished, I thought we should add some other new tracks, make it a real album and put it in the record stores to give these new artists a real boost."
The new Shady artists he's introducing include Stat Quo, Ca$his and Bobby Creekwater, who rhyme alongside their label boss and his D12 crew, as well as 50 Cent, Lloyd Banks, Obie Trice and Akon. Eminem decided to take the project aboveground when information — which he said was incorrect — began circulating about what was going to be on it.
Em produced the majority of the songs on the set, with the Alchemist (Mobb Deep, Snoop Dogg, Nas) pitching in on a few tracks and compiling the whole thing into mixtape shape. Alchemist hooked up with the Shady team when he served as DJ for Em on last year's Anger Management 3 tour following the departure of former DJ Green Lantern.
The first single and video from the Re-Up set is for "You Don't Know," featuring Em, 50 Cent, Ca$his and Lloyd Banks. With the exception of Stat Quo's "Billion Bucks" and Obie Trice's "Cry Now" remix, which appeared on recent mixtapes, all the other tracks on the Re-Up are previously unreleased.
Atlanta's Stat Quo was invited into the Shady family after Em and Dr. Dre heard him on an underground Atlanta mixtape, while the ATL's Creekwater got his deal after Em heard his work on some demos and studio sessions with Alchemist, according to the press release. Chicago native Ca$his, who moved to Orange County, California, as a kid, came to Em's attention thanks to his work with West Coast underground group the Renegadez.
The Re-Up track list includes "No Apologies" (Eminem), "Talkin' All That" (Ca$his), "City of Gold" (Bobby Creekwater) "Murder" (D12's Bizarre and Kuniva) and the "Smack That" remix with Akon.
In addition to clearing up rumors about the Re-Up, Em also said that, contrary to speculation, the mixtape is not a tribute to late D12 member Proof, the rapper's close friend who was killed earlier this year during an altercation outside a Detroit.
"The D12 album and those unreleased songs with Proof are coming," said Eminem. "But The Re-Up is about these new artists and these new songs. It isn't fair to them or to the memory of Proof to mix them up."

EM & Akon Tape "Smack That Ass" Video
There have been so many wild stories coming off the set of the recent Akon and Eminem video shoot for "Smack That." But Kon is just thankful he got to make music with Slim Shady.
"Being on a record with Eminem and it being my record, that's major," Akon said. "He don't really work with a lot of outside people. Trying to secure him, it was a blessing because it was easy. I never thought it would be so easy. I realized how much I've grown as artist and how much he respects me as an artist. He received me with open arms. I'm always going to be grateful to him."
Akon connected with Em via Obie Trice. Kon produced and sang the hook on Obie's single "Snitch."
"From there [Obie] called and said Em wanted to meet with me and work some things out," Kon continued. "I flew out to Detroit and once we met, we clicked instantly. That's my dude right there."
Slim actually produced the original version of "Smack That," which has been getting some radio play, and Kon produced a remix. The two versions will be blended together for the video.
"He works like I work," the singer said of Eminem. "He don't need a studio. He leans out to get with his family, comes back in the following morning. We got the same hunger."
The "Smack That" video is inspired by a film that helped forge the basic blueprint of cop buddy films in contemporary Hollywood.
"The concept is like '48 Hours,' " Kon revealed. "I'm Eddie Murphy and Eric Roberts is going to play Nick Nolte. We reached out to him and he welcomed us with open arms too. It's crazy. I'm looking for this bad little chick. Eric Roberts is convincing me to help him find her. Then we have Eminem, we're gonna do our performance parts together. Eminem is coming up in the club. ... I don't want to give it all away."

Rumor EM Disrespected Playmate Kendra Wilkerson On Video Shoot
EMINEM has apologized to one of HUGH HEFNER's fulltime girlfriends after they fell out over a badly received prank. The rapper borrowed KENDRA WILKERSON to play his love interest in a new music video for SMACK THAT ASS but was accused of acting "disrespectfully" when a joke went wrong. Wilkerson's agent JONATHAN BARAM tells Page Six, "Eminem came out of his trailer and threw water on her and was really disrespectful. "He flipped out on her. She's a tough girl. She didn't take it, and they went at it - not physically but verbally. "Now that I think about it, he was probably just playing a joke. I don't want there to be any controversy between me and Eminem." Eminem is since reported to have made amends by sending a blooming bouquet to the Playboy mansion.

EM Designs Nike AirMaxes 4 Charity
Rapper Eminem has teamed with Nike to create a limited edition line of Air Max sneakers to benefit charity.
Slim Shady will add his personal touch to the upper designs of eight different shoes in the Air Max series, from the Air Max ’87 to the most recent Air Max 360.
"If you told me ten years ago that I'd be designing this whole series of Air Max's, I never would have believed it," said Eminem in a release. "It's one of the hottest lines that Nike ever produced, so I'm honored to make my own contribution. My only problem was figuring out how to make the shoes different from stuff they've already done: Nike always has the dopest color combos."
Only 8 full sets of the footwear (64 shoes in total) will be produced before they are auctioned off over a period of 4 weeks. Proceeds from the auction will go to Eminem’s charity for troubled Michigan youth, The Marshall Mathers Foundation, and ninemillion.org, a global campaign led by the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and founded by Nike and Microsoft that aims to raise awareness and funds to bring education and sport programs to the world’s refugee youth.

Obie More Independent From EM On NU Album/Tracklisting
Eminem protégé Obie Trice is prepping to shake off any idea of a sophomore jinx with his second album, titled Second Round's On Me.
The Detroit rapper has been hard at work in between joining Em on his Anger Management Tour. And unlike his debut album, Cheers, Obie is now taking matters into his own hands, without Em's tutelage.
"I did this album myself as opposed to Em just being right next to me like he was on Cheers,” said Obie in a released statement. "I did it at my studio, brought it to him and that's how we got it done. It felt good."
The Shady Records artist stepped into the executive producer role, overseeing the entire project, bringing in some of hip-hop's best for production, including Eminem, Jonathan "J.R." Rotem, Akon and 9th Wonder, among others.
That's not the only thing different for Obie this time. No, he's also grown lyrically. Not only will the new album include the humor and bravado of his debut, but he also touches on more serious topics.
"If they are expecting Cheers, they are not gonna get it," explained Obie. "I developed lyrically. I'm talking about a lot of things that are important in the black community. It shows my growth as an artist and as a person."
Much like Jay-Z does on the regular, Obie opted to recite his rhymes on the spot, instead of writing anything down. "I would say eight bars, and then I would listen to the beat and then punch in the next eight bars," said the rapper. "When I heard the music, I was ready to go. I did not want to sit down and write on paper. I would get an idea and want to say it at that moment."
Last summer, Obie gave fans a taste of what was to come when he leaked the rock-fueled "Wanna Know," which samples rock band Van Halen. The song was features on the hit HBO series "Entourage."
Next was the album's official first single, "Snitch," which feature R&B crooner Akon.
Second Round's On Me is slated for release August 15, and features eight tracks produced by Eminem. Guest appearances include Akon, Nate Dogg, Eminem, Trey Songz, Trick Trick and 50 Cent, to name a few.
Below is the final tracklist, according to a label spokesperson:
"Intro"
"Wake Up"
"Violent"
"Wanna Know"
"Lay Down"
"Snitch"
"Cry Now"
"Ballad Of Obie Trice"
"Jamaican Girl"
"Kill Me A Mutha"
"Out Of State"
"All Of My Life"
"Ghetto"
"There They Go"
"Mama"
"Everywhere I Go"
"Obie Story"

EM's Online Mixtape, The Re-Up Pushed Back??
Absolutely unsubstantiated* but worth discussing nonetheless. The 'internet streets' are buzzing with the rumored postponement of Eminem's mixtape, The Re-Up. According to the grapevine, that DJ Whoo Kid-helmed project is not expected in the black market till sometime this October.
Between The Re-Up and Hi-Tek's Hi-Teknology 2, October--the birth month of yours truly--is poised to be a great month for hip-hop once again. Who knows, maybe Em even has plans of dropping the joint on his own birthday--October 17th.
Seriously folks, who in the world treats a mixtape like an album by pushing it back? But...hey, it's Eminem. Hell, if Em could punch the bejizzles out of a stalking fan and walk away scot free, then he could possibly get away with anything.

Complaint Against Eminem Dropped By Alleged Strip-Club Assault Victim
A man who told police late last week that he was assaulted by rapper Eminem during an altercation inside the men's bathroom of a Detroit strip club has withdrawn his complaint.
A Detroit Police Department spokesperson said Monday (July 17) that the alleged victim — who first contacted police with his indictment Thursday morning — withdrew his complaint against the rapper over the weekend, ending a brief police investigation into the matter.
The spokesperson did not reveal the reasoning behind the alleged victim's reversal.
Police had said on Friday that detectives were "very interested" in speaking with Eminem and anyone else involved about the alleged incident — which the victim had claimed unfolded early Thursday morning inside the Cheetah club on 8 Mile Road. Eminem was never formally charged with any crime, and police never named any suspects in the alleged attack.

Eminem Accused Of Assaulting Man In Strip-Club Bathroom
Detroit police are investigating an altercation that occurred in the men's bathroom of a strip club on the city's west side that allegedly involved Eminem.
According to a police spokesperson, detectives are "very interested" in speaking with the rapper about the incident, which unfolded early Thursday morning inside the Cheetah strip club, located on the road Em's music and film helped bring to worldwide fame: 8 Mile.
The spokesperson said police merely want to discuss the matter with Em, as well as the alleged victim and anyone else who may have been involved — but they do not, at this point, have any suspects in the alleged assault.
The Detroit Free Press reported that the fight started at around 1:15 a.m. Thursday, when a 48-year-old Royal Oak, Michigan, man — the alleged victim — claims he was assaulted in the strip club's bathroom. Local ABC News affiliate WXYZ identified the victim simply as Miad J., but police would not release the names of individuals who may have been involved. Miad J. told the news station that Eminem punched him in the face four or five times.
The victim told WXYZ that he was using a urinal next to Eminem when another man entered the bathroom and struck up a conversation with the rapper. At that point, Miad J. said that one of Em's bodyguards warned the man to keep quiet. Miad J. said he told the bodyguard to relax, and when "Eminem got done ... he started swinging," he told WXYZ. "I wasn't even expecting it. I was just minding my own business."
A spokesperson for Cheetah told the Free Press that a fight had occurred inside the club and that Eminem was involved, but declined further comment.
A spokesperson for Eminem's label, Interscope Records, declined MTV News' requests for comment on the situation.
According to the Free Press, police claim the assailants fled the club in a vehicle, and that a third suspect — riding in the same car — brandished a firearm, but that he did not point it at anyone outside the club.
Miad J. sustained minor injuries to the side of his face, WXYZ reported. Miad J. said the club's bouncers intervened, and tossed Eminem's bodyguards out of the club. Witnesses reported seeing Eminem inside the Cheetah the evening of the alleged assault.

All proceeds from the Web site go to the Big Proof Forever Foundation, an organization that will benefit Proof's five children.

EM 2 Star In New Film, "Have Gun-Will Travel"
Detroit rapper Eminem will return to the big screen in a remake of the classic television series Have Gun - Will Travel.
The Grammy-winning lyricist will star in the Paramount Pictures film, which will offer a contemporary spin on the 1950's Western series that starred Richard Boone.
The setting could be Eminem's hometown of Detroit, but those details have yet to be worked out, Variety reports, adding that Paramount has an 18-month option to develop Have Gun as an action drama for Eminem.
The new movie will be "revamped from the original, with some characters based loosely on ones from the series as well as nods to certain story points," Paul Rosenberg, Eminem's manager told Variety.
Although the rapper will be cast as a bounty hunter, it's unlikely the character will mirror Boone's Paladin, a brandy-sipping, Shakespeare-quoting, chess player.
Interscope/Shady/Aftermath Films will produce the film and Eminem may contribute to some portion of the soundtrack or score.
The acquisition of Eminem is the newest development in the quest to bring Have Gun to movie theaters.
John Travolta was once attached to star in the film, which had long been developed as a period piece.
Have Gun - Will Travel joins 1987's Wanted: Dead or Alive on the list of contemporary remakes of classic TV westerns.
That film, a revision of the old Steve McQueen series, starred Rutger Hauer as the descendant of McQueen's bounty hunter.
Have Gun is Eminem's second foray in to the world of motion pictures.

Whoo Kid Says EM's NU Mixtape Is "Gonna Be Ridiculous"
DJ Whoo Kid is in the Middle East this week touring with 50 Cent, but before he jetted, he made sure he left something behind for the streets. As mentioned above, Whoo worked with Lloyd Banks on his new mixtape, but by the end of this week, a new Shady Records mixtape should be at a bootlegger near you. It's called The Re-Up and marks the return of Eminem.
"Em's sh-- is gonna be ridiculous," Whoo Kid boasted last week. "I'm gonna make so much money, I don't know why I'm going on tour. The return of the Emster and the whole Shady going hard. Everybody is on point. Obie [Trice], Stat Quo, all their artists. It's gonna be more of a hungry Shady, back to the grind. Plus me and Alchemist are putting it together, so it will be ridiculous."

D12, Eminem Go On Without Slain Bandmate Proof
Rap group D12, which includes Eminem, plans to continue recording a new album despite the shooting death of bandmate Proof.
"If people think that because he's not here we're not going to keep doing what we're doing, then they're wrong," said D12 member Denaun Porter, who goes by the rap name Kon Artis.
The group expects to resume recording next month after one its members, Swift, gets out of jail on a probation violation, Porter told the Detroit Free Press for a story Friday.
D12 would use work already recorded by Proof.

Swift Jailed 4 Missing Court Date 2 Attend Proof's Funeral
Rap musician Swift was jailed on a probation violation after missing a court hearing while he attended the funeral of his friend Proof, a fellow member of the Eminem-led hip-hop group D12.
Police in Novi found Swift, whose real name is Ondre Moore, on Thursday afternoon in the Detroit suburb. District Court Judge Brian MacKenzie sentenced him to 93 days in jail for violating terms of his probation in a drunken driving case.
Moore, 31, had tested positive for alcohol despite a condition of his probation that he remain free of alcohol or drugs, the judge said.
The judge issued a bench warrant for Moore's arrest after he failed to appear in court Wednesday. Moore served that day as an honorary pallbearer at the funeral of Proof, who was shot to death April 11 in Detroit.
Messages seeking comment were left Friday with a lawyer for Moore.
Besides Swift, D12 is composed of rap superstar Eminem, Kon Artis, Bizarre and Kuniva. Proof, whose real name was Deshaun Holton, was an original member of the group that formed in the mid-1990s.

PROOF | 1973-2006: Fans, friends pay final respects to rapper
And now, it's real.
After mourning the death of Proof for a week, hundreds of his fans and friends came out Tuesday to view his body, which was placed inside a gold-toned casket at Fellowship Chapel on Detroit's west side.
For many, it was jarring to see the champion of Detroit hip-hop lifeless, but wearing all his usual accessories -- sporty athletic suit, Kangol cap. His rap moniker and birth name, Deshaun D. Holton, were etched at the bottom of the casket in English script.
"We knew he was gone," said rapper King Gordy, a good friend of Proof, who'd been a judge at his infamous Fight Club rap battles. "But when you see him now, it's like, 'Here goes a reality check.' Right now, Detroit has a black cloud over it."
Gordy was among hundreds of mourners who'd left work, skipped school or simply took a moment to acknowledge the passing of the rapper, who was killed last week in a shooting at a club that was operating after-hours.
On Monday night, some of Proof's most famous friends had a private viewing of his body. Members of D12, including Eminem, were there the night before the public viewing to pay their respects to their former band mate.
Bizarre, also a D12 member, was unable to make it on Monday, and early Tuesday afternoon was brought in through a back entrance of the church, and the doors were closed to the public for about 10 minutes.
Inside the church -- cameras were not allowed -- the rapper was dressed in same kind of outfit he'd wear in music videos or around town. A Detroit Pistons jersey -- No. 1 Chauncey Billups -- autographed by several players, was draped over Proof's body.
On either side of the pulpit, two large video screens showed continuously looped video footage of Proof in music videos, on stage in concert or just clowning around. He was surrounded by a huge collection of floral arrangements, including some sent by Geffen Records and Interscope Records, the latter label being the home of D12.
"Today feels gloomy, even though it's sunny out," said Greg C. Brown, who has played lead guitar on several D12 tracks.
Detroit Police were a heavy presence inside and outside the church, with about a dozen cops and additional private security in the vicinity. Police had said the security was necessary because of Proof's fame. Although the viewing was scheduled to end at 9 p.m. and crowds had tapered off by then, the church planned to accept latecomers until about 11 p.m. A mixture of old and young, white and black -- some in T-shirts with Proof's likeness airbrushed on them, some in suits -- congregated outside the church, giving hugs, breaking down and consoling each other.
"It doesn't seem real, said Marvwon of the Detroit rap group Fat Killahz. "He was Superman. How do you kill Superman?"
Some hobbled on crutches, others rolled in on wheelchairs and several walked with canes. Some didn't know him personally.
"For the most part, everybody is taking it hard. Especially his mom," said 37-year-old Kenneth Malone, Proof's cousin, who also will be a pallbearer in the service today. "We're just trying to maintain. Once we get past this, we'll deal with it really. Right now, we're just trying to do what we can for the public."
As people left the viewing, they were given a postcard-sized handout -- a picture of D12, without Eminem, on the front, and a story about Proof's life on the back.
Outside of the service, local rappers, friends of Proof and those who worked with him at his Detroit-based Iron Fist Records label made plans for how they would honor their friend at today's service. They all decided to wear Kangol caps and black T-shirts that have his image silk-screened on the front and the words "Big Proof Forever 1973-2006" on the back.

EM & Obie Mourn Proof At Funeral
Eminem remembered his best friend and fellow rapper Proof during an emotionally charged funeral service on Wednesday.
The rapper told hundreds of mourners packed inside a Detroit church that "without Proof, there would be no Eminem, no Slim Shady".
The funeral programme said the two men shared the "friendship of a lifetime".
Another member of Eminem's inner circle - rapper Obie Trice - was shot and wounded while driving on a Detroit-area highway in December.
Trice was also in attendance at the funeral and delivered a serious message to those in attendance.
"I want to talk to the black men living in the hood. ... We're killing each other, and it's about nothing," he said.
Police say Proof shot another man before he was shot to death himself.
Check out the audio of EM's Eulogy: Here. It's bad quality, but it's better than nothing.

Kim Confused & Angry About Divorce
Kim Mathers, the ex-wife of Eminem, is still wondering why the rap superstar filed for divorce for a second time.
“I would just like to say that the reason my husband has filed for divorce still remains a mystery to me,” Kim wrote in an email to Star magazine. “The only thing I can tell you definitely is that Marshall has a problem being honest with me, himself and many others. I have done nothing but try and try with him, but nothing is ever good enough.”
Kim went on to explain that she tried to seek counseling for herself and Em to work through their problems, but he didn’t oblige.
“It’s so amazing that he can talk as much [bleep] about anyone he wants and people can buy it, but the minute someone speaks on him, they are automatically lying or trying to make some money off his name,” Kim continued to tell Star.
In related news, the magazine goes on to quote a friend of Eminem's that says the hip hop superstar is upset, confused and has been crying over the loss of his best friend, Proof.

EM Remembers Proof
Eminem issued the following statement Thursday night through his publicist Dennis Dennehy about the shooting death early Tuesday morning of his good friend Deshaun Holton, who was known professionally as Proof.
"You don't know where to begin when you lose somebody who's been such a big part of your life for so long. Proof and I were brothers. He pushed me to become who I am. Without Proof's guidance and encouragement there would have been a Marshall Mathers, but probably not an Eminem and certainly never a Slim Shady. Not a day will go by without his spirit and influence around us all. He will be missed as a friend, father and both the heart and ambassador of Detroit hip-hop.
"Right now, there's a lot of people focusing on the way he died. I want to remember the way he lived. Proof was funny, he was smart, he was charming. He inspired everyone around him. He can never, ever be replaced. He was, and always will be, my best friend."

Proof Shot To Death Outside Detroit Club
His best friend and fellow D12 MC Eminem rocketed to worldwide fame, but for many people on the Detroit rap scene, Proof was the people's king and an equally vital figure in helping to establish the city as an international hip-hop hot spot.
"He looked out for everybody. He was Em's best friend, but he was everyone's best friend." — Proof's longtime friend and former manager, Mark "Doughboy" Hicks
Proof (born DeShaun Holton), 30, was killed by a gunshot to the head early Tuesday morning (April 11) outside Detroit's CCC Club in a shooting that left another man in critical condition (see "D12's Proof Shot And Killed At Detroit Club"). Friends remembered him as an unparalleled battle rapper, a creative force and hometown booster who never stopped searching for the next big thing — in high schools, clubs, conference rooms or anywhere else he could stage a lyrical throwdown.
"He looked out for everybody," said his longtime friend and former manager Mark "Doughboy" Hicks. "He's one of the prototypes for the music biz in Detroit. Proof was everywhere; that was part of his thing. He was in clubs, he was a street guy, a people's person. He reminded me of Peter Tosh or Tupac, how he had his house open and welcome to everybody. He had the biggest heart [of anyone] I've ever known in my life."
According to local lore, it was Proof who came up with the D12 moniker after the group's original name, the Dirty Dozen, was rejected because it had already been taken by another act. Along with his friend Bizarre and high school buddy Eminem, he helped launch the group — which also features Kon Artis, Swift and Kuniva — and took part in an early pact between the members that said whoever became successful first would help the others along.
Before making his mark as Eminem's onstage foil, though, Proof established an early reputation as one of the hardest-working hustlers on the local music scene, according to Hicks. "He had it in his blood, because his father used to be in Marvin Gaye's band," Hicks said; Proof's father is McKinley Jackson, a producer/arranger/bandleader who also worked extensively with other Detroit R&B acts. "[Proof worked] at a studio called Mo Master on the West Side," Hicks continued. "They made him an assistant engineer in 1991, and that's when he started making contacts. Everyone would go there and everyone got to know him."
One of the most versatile, witty freestylers on the competitive Detroit scene, he won the 1999 Source magazine Unsigned Hype freestyle competition and narrowly lost the Blaze battle that year, after hosting the Saturday afternoon MC battles at Maurice Malone's legendary Hip-Hop Shop for five years. Proof is credited with encouraging Slim Shady to take the stage for battles, a move that helped Em get a record deal with Dr. Dre's Aftermath Records.
"He would do battles everywhere, places I can't even think of," Hicks said. "He didn't graduate from high school, but he would [perform at] high schools. To be the host [at the Hip-Hop Shop] you had to beat the host, and Proof was the host until the end." The Hip-Hop shop closed in 1997 but has reopened under new management.
Last year he released his solo debut, Searching for Jerry Garcia, on his own Iron Fist Records. The wide-ranging album featured cameos from 50 Cent, Method Man, Nate Dogg, MC Breed, Eminem and the D12 posse. The record's booklet was littered with images and references to dead rock stars — including the track "Kurt Cobain" — and the cover features a dour image of Proof holding a skeleton in a headlock. According to the Detroit Free Press, D12 were set to start working on their third album this month.
Proof was best known as Eminem's longtime friend and onstage right-hand man, a position he won after original hype man and fellow Detroit rapper Royce Da 5'9" gave up the position to pursue a solo deal. However, Hicks said Proof was much more than a hype man, helping to design the sets and draw up set lists for Eminem's show and counseling his friend on how to pace his performances.
Proof was also the only D12 member to appear in Em's acclaimed 2002 semi-autobiographical film "8 Mile" (he played Lil' Tic) and was the inspiration for Mekhi Phifer's role as Future in the movie. He also served as Eminem's best man when the rapper remarried Kim Mathers in January Eminem filed for divorce last week.
In a tragic coincidence, in the video for Eminem's "Like Toy Soldiers" — a song about walking away from beef he and fellow Shady Records rappers have had with other MCs — Proof is shot and shown lying on a gurney, bleeding to death, as Eminem waits outside an operating room.
Also known as Big Proof and Derty Harry, the father of five appeared on D12's 2001 debut, Devil's Night, and its hit single, "Purple Pills," and also collaborated with fellow Detroit rapper Dogmatic on the 2002 Promatic album; he also toured with Eminem on the Anger Management Tour that year. Prior to the release of the second D12 album, 2004's D12 World, Proof released a number of mixtapes, including I Miss the Hip-Hop Shop and Grown Man Shit. He recently launched a DVD series with fellow D12 rapper Bizarre called "Wanna Battle," in which the pair judged rap battles. The first in the series was recorded in Detroit last fall.
In February, Proof lost one of his close friends in fellow Detroit artist Jay Dee of Slum Village, with whom he'd gotten his first tattoo, an "FC" for Funky Cowboy, their pre-D12/Slum Village group (see "Jay Dee — Producer For Common, Busta And Tribe — Dies" and "Jay Dee: Hip-Hop's Shy Giant"). "No one's done more for this city's artists than Proof and Jay Dee," said RJ Rice, a Detroit producer, manager and record label owner. "They were the only people I know who would do stuff genuinely from the heart and not for money."
While the pressures of worldwide fame have largely prevented Eminem from remaining connected to his hometown, Proof was able to keep a strong tie to the scene that nurtured him, befriending many of the city's top hip-hop DJs, radio personalities and up-and-coming MCs and producers, according to Hicks.
He also continued to host Fight Club, a battle-rap competition that took place near — and sometimes in — the Iron Fist offices in downtown Detroit.
"He always had his studio open to people," said Hicks, who had known Proof for nearly 20 years and said it was not at all unusual for the rapper to be out at a club in the early-morning hours. "If you were an MC and were good, he had an open heart, man. You'd go to [Iron Fist] and there would be 20-30 people in there.
"He liked to be out with people. He looked out for everybody. He was Em's best friend, but he was everyone's best friend."

EM Denies Retiriment Rumors & Is Workin Hard On Obie Trice's NU Album
The once-omnipresent Eminem has been lying low for the past several months (matrimonial drama aside), but he maintains that talk of his retirement has been grossly exaggerated.
Em recently taped an interview with Obie Trice for Shade 45, his Sirius Satellite radio station, and refuted the rumors.
"People get it twisted when I said I'm taking a break," Em told host Lil Shawn. "I never said I'm going to stop doing music. What I meant was that I'm taking a break from being the frontman and the center of attention. I want to fall back for a minute, but I never stop recording. I keep busy."
Em has been holed up in the studio producing tracks for Obie Trice's upcoming LP, Second Round's on Me.
"It's not about something to prove," he answered when asked about Obie's objective with this album. "This time it's about hitting an audience we didn't connect with before. We want to target and market this album more to the streets."
Obie's first single is a record called "Snitch," where he and guest star Akon talk about how someone violated one the biggest codes of the streets: no snitching.
"I know the people are going to appreciate the song," Trice said. "It's a hard-ass, real-music type of song. The lyrics and hook feel good."
Obie also addressed the shooting that occurred on New Year's Eve, in which he was shot in the head by an unknown gunman while driving on a highway in Detroit. The MC still has a bullet lodged in his head.
"It's still in there right now," he said. "My skull hasn't completely healed yet, but I'm doing good. It hasn't really affected my day-to-day, and the doctors will be able to remove [the bullet] soon."
Em visited Obie the day after the shooting and was completely shocked about how well his friend was doing.
"I'm expecting to see him laid the f--- up and he's upstairs doing push-ups!" Em described. "I'm like, 'What are you doing?' 'Bullet in the head, still alive, already home!'"
Besides Obie's new LP, Slim Shady also said he was excited about some of his new signees, Bobby Creek from Atlanta and Ca$his from Orange County, California.
"I feel like we got an all-star team now."
Obie Trice's new LP is slated for a May 30 release. You can catch the full Eminem and Obie interview Friday on Sirius satellite radio, channel Shade 45 from 2:30 to 4 p.m. ET. Em is slated to call in again on Cipha Sounds and Angela Yee's show on Shade 45 on April 13 at 11 a.m. ET.

Eminem Splits From Kim Mathers - Again
Eminem's dysfunctional relationship with wife Kim has hit another low he filed divorce papers Wednesday, less than three months after remarrying her.
The filing on behalf of Marshall Bruce Mathers III, Eminem's real name, was confirmed by Eminem's publicist, Dennis Dennehy, and two employees of the Macomb County clerk's office. They didn't provide their names, citing an office policy.
Dennehy had no other comment Wednesday.
The Grammy- and Oscar-winning rapper and Mathers remarried Jan. 14, a month after the couple announced they were getting back together.
Their first marriage ended after two-plus years in October 2001 in an ugly legal fight that included a custody battle over their daughter, Hailie.

Eminem Remarries Ex-Wife, Kim Mathers
Would the real Slim Shady please kiss the bride?
A month after telling a Detroit radio station he was back together with ex-wife Kim Mathers, Eminem remarried his high school sweetheart Saturday in an intimate ceremony at Meadow Brook Hall, a 110-room mansion located in Rochester, Michigan.
"Family and close friends were in attendance, including members of D12, 50 Cent, Obie Trice and members of G-Unit," Em's publicist, Dennis Dennehy said. The rapper's hype man, D12 rapper Proof, served as best man.
Eminem and Kim arrived by limousine as news helicopters flew above and paparazzi flocked around them. Dennehy said that New York DJ Lord Sear entertained at the reception as lobster tails and filet mignon were served. The couple will take their honeymoon later this year.

EM & Kim Apply 4 Marriage License
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. (AP) — Slim Shady and his ex are going to get married again.
Kim Mathers, Eminem's former wife, has applied for a license to marry Marshall Bruce Mathers III.
The application was filed with the Macomb County clerk's office and was to be ready for pickup on Thursday, the clerk's office said Wednesday.
The couple has 30 days to remarry in Michigan, but information on the wedding has been scant since the rap superstar announced in December that the two would get back together.
Eminem and the woman known to hip-hop fans merely as "Kim" reconciled in late 2004, three years after closing out their divorce.
Both grew up in suburbs along Eight Mile Road, Detroit's northern border.

EM Gets Back w/Kim, May Remarry
Stranger things have happened, but not many. In a call to a Detroit radio show on Tuesday, Eminem said that he is back together with his on-again, off-again and apparently on-again ex-wife, Kim Mathers. In fact, he revealed that the pair may marry again, according to a story from The Associated Press.
"We have reconciled and are probably going to remarry," Eminem told Detroit radio station WKQI-FM's "Mojo in the Morning" show. The teenage sweetheart couple, who were married in 1998 and underwent an ugly divorce and custody battle over their daughter Hailie Jade, finalized their divorce in 2001, though Em reportedly referred to Kim, 30, as his wife repeatedly during the interview.
Kim, who has been the unflattering subject of violent songs like "Kim" on The Marshall Mathers LP, in which Em rapped about killing his wife, attempted suicide in the couple's home in 2000 following a hometown concert by the rapper at the Palace of Auburn Hills and was arrested on drug charges in 2003.
Eminem also talked about his stay in a rehabilitation facility on the radio show. He was treated earlier this year for a dependency on sleeping pills.
"When I went into rehab, I kind of went into it ... with the notion of 'I'm gonna get clean, I'm gonna get off this stuff before it gets too out of hand,' " he said. The news about the hospitalization came in August after the rapper canceled his European tour, initially citing exhaustion and unspecified "other" medical issues.
Though the 33-year-old MC denied reports in the Detroit press in July that he was retiring, in the radio interview Em made it sound like he had some time off planned. "I'm at a point in my life right now where I feel like I don't know where my career is going," he said. "This is the reason that we called it Curtain Call, because this could be the final thing. We don't know." In a promotional video for the album, Em mentions that at the very least, the album is the final appearance by his Slim Shady alter ego.
Along with Tuesday's episode of "TRL," in which Eminem discussed his daughter Hailie, this radio call is one of the only live interviews that the rapper has planned to promote Curtain Call, according to his label, Interscope Records.

"When I'm Gone" Video Premieres Monday 11/28
Eminem has never shied away from airing his private life in his work, and the video for his new single, "When I'm Gone," is no exception.
The clip begins with Em addressing his recent stint in a rehab clinic for dependency on sleep medication.
The video, which was directed by Anthony Mandler in Em's hometown of Detroit on November 13 and 14, opens in a large room that resembles a school gym, where adults seated in folding chairs are gathered around a middle-aged man speaking at a podium — the setup is like a Narcotics Anonymous or Alcoholics Anonymous meeting. The man tells the group about how rough the last six years of his life have been, and how he and his wife are happy that he's changed. Eminem, wearing a ball cap that reveals some of his black hair, is one of the people in the crowd.
The leader of the group then asks if anyone would like to share. Em gets up, goes to the podium and says, "My name is Marshall." The rest of the video illustrates the lyrics from the song, including the lines describing how his daughter Hailie put up boxes to block the front door of their home to stop Eminem from leaving to go on tour.
A teaser from the video will be shown on "TRL" on Wednesday (November 23), with the full clip premiering on Monday. Em's greatest-hits LP, Curtain Call — which features "When I'm Gone" — will be in stores on December 6.

Eminem Laughs @ Retirement Rumors, "Encore Closes 1st Chapter"
Only days after gossip spread that Eminem was retiring, the lyricist dismissed the reports during a recent concert in Washington.
A recent article in the Detroit Free Press stated that Em was set to retire following a concert in Dublin, Ireland on September 17th. Supposedly, last year's Encore was scheduled to be Slim's last release as he readies to focus on production rather than rap. However, Em addressed the retirement rumors during his Anger Management 3 set at Washington's White River Amphitheatre.
"How many of you all read the tabloids? Cause there's some sh!t goin' around that I'm retiring," Em told the crowd.
Slim then noted that the article next to the retirement story was a piece about the moon "to blow up today." He then added, "I'm retiring? then I guess the moon just blew up" before mooning the crowd. Em added that if he ever retired and decided to come back his new stage name would be "Rain Man."
Meanwhile, his publicist, Dennis Dennehy, says there's no truth to reports from MTV this week claiming Emimen had indeed denied retiring.
"Basically MTV made an inference," Dennehy told SOHH.com. "The statement is that 'Encore' is the close of the first chapter of Eminem's career. Beyond that, no decisions have been made."

The End of Eminem?
Marshall Mathers is ready to get rid of Eminem.
Here's what it could mean, say those close to the rapper: When he steps off the stage Sept. 17 in Dublin, Ireland, he will have made his final concert appearance. "Encore," his slyly titled 2004 release, will stand as the final Eminem album. The reign of Eminem, and his alter ego Slim Shady, will have been voluntarily vanquished.
It wouldn't be a mere name game, in the hip-hop fashion that let Puff Daddy become P. Diddy, or the fanciful indulgence of a superstar toying with personas, like Prince. Nor would it be some gimmicky farewell stunt, say hometown friends and professional associates, many of whom asked not to be named in this story, citing sensitivity about the issue deep within Eminem's record label and management camps.
What it would represent, say those friends, is a dramatic life shift for a celebrity grown weary of public commotion -- and an artist who feels trapped by musical expectations.
"Em has definitely gotten to the level where he feels like he's accomplished everything he can accomplish in rap," said rapper Proof, Mathers' right-hand man onstage. "He wants to kick back and get into the producing thing."
Detroit producer Jeff Bass, who won an Academy Award for cowriting Eminem's "Lose Yourself," said while he won't rule out the possibility of further solo albums from Mathers, "the Eminem part of his career isn't going to be at the forefront anymore."
If Mathers is truly set to shake things up, exactly where he goes from here is unclear. He's not doing interviews this summer, and his spokesman at Interscope Records in Los Angeles declined to comment. Manager Paul Rosenberg said there's been "no official decision" about the future. But he acknowledged that some kind of recalibration is likely, adding that Eminem's latest multiplatinum record is "certainly the cap on this part of his career."
Others by his side, from business partners to fellow rappers in D12, say Mathers is ready to embark on a path like that of mentor Dr. Dre, who upon reaching his 30s eased away from the microphone for a successful career as a producer and star-maker.

Anger Management Tour Bus Crashes; Stat Quo, Eminem's DJ Among Those Injured
An Anger Management 3 tour bus whose passengers included Eminem's DJ, Alchemist, and the Detroit rapper's latest protégé, Atlanta's Stat Quo, collided with a pair of tractor-trailers just outside Odessa, Missouri, before overturning Wednesday night, triggering a six-vehicle pileup that left 11 people seriously injured.
The injured were rushed to hospitals — some of them, via helicopter. Seven tour bus passengers sustained injuries, although police did not disclose specific details on what or how severe those injuries were.
Stat Quo, who was listed on the accident report by his real name, Stanley Benton, was taken to Independence Regional Health Center in Independence, Missouri, where he was treated for bumps and bruises and released, according to a hospital spokesperson. Stat's manager, Joseph Fendrick, was transported to the same hospital, where he's listed in fair condition; he sustained a broken arm and ankle.
Scott Cherry, a Shady Records bodyguard who protects 50 Cent and Eminem, was treated at and released from St. Luke's Hospital in Kansas City, Missouri. Alan Maman, better known as Alchemist, is still being treated at St. Luke's for broken ribs and a collapsed lung; his brother and co-manager, Neil Maman, also remains under hospital care, but his injuries were not known as of press time. Both are listed in good condition.
The bus' driver, Charlie Gilligard, and the tour's trainer, Robert Haddoni, were listed as being in stable condition at Independence Regional and Lee's Summit Hospital in Kansas City, respectively. Four others — drivers and passengers of the other vehicles involved — were treated and released, according to a police spokesperson.
According to a Missouri Highway Patrol accident report, the crash occurred just after 6 p.m. Wednesday on a heavily trafficked stretch of Interstate 70 outside Odessa. The bus — bound for Denver, the site of Thursday night's (July 14) Anger Management 3 tour stop — was "traveling at a high rate of speed" when its driver swerved onto the highway's shoulder to avoid the slower-moving tractor-trailers.
The bus slid off the right side of the roadway but then veered sharply to the left and back onto the highway, clipping one of the trucks.
The force from the impact shot the truck across several lanes of traffic and over the highway median, into the oncoming-traffic lane. The bus continued its trajectory, striking a second 18-wheeler. The brunt of that collision forced the bus onto its side; the vehicle came to rest on the highway's median, with a portion of the bus protruding into the eastbound lanes. Four other vehicles, including two motorcycles, collided with truck and bus debris.
According to the Kansas City Star, the driver of one of the tractor-trailers, Breck Wyngarden, estimated the bus' speed at 85 mph.
According to an Interscope Records spokesperson, the accident will not affect the remainder of the tour — which features 50 Cent, Eminem, Lil Jon & the East Side Boyz, G-Unit, D12, Obie Trice and Stat Quo — or the Denver concert. A substitute DJ is being sought to fill in for Alchemist until he's well enough to return to the tour. Stat Quo's status is in limbo, with label reps saying it is quite possible he will not take the stage in Denver.

Eminem & Dre Get Digitized In 50 Videogame
Given that 50 Cent is one of the most popular rappers currently weilding a microphone these days, it's no wonder that the excitement surrounding the impending release of his videogame Bulletproof is so electric.
"I'm as excited about 50 Cent: Bulletproof as I am about the success of my album, The Massacre and that means a lot since music has always been my life," says 50.
Perhaps the most exciting news, however, is the addition of his cohorts Eminem and Dr. Dre. Both of his mentors have been added to the game and will be rendered as the characters "McVicar" and "Grizz" respectively. "The addition of Eminem and Dre show that this game is on the right course to follow in the successful footsteps of my music."
50 Cent has been heavily involved in the game's creation and content, which features the star's voice, likeness and music. He collaborated on the game's mechanics and storyline with former Sopranos executive producer and Emmy award winner Terry Winter, who wrote the game's script (Winter also wrote the screenplay for 50 Cent's forthcoming theatrical release Get Rich or Die Tryin').
The game will also feature new songs from 50, which he recorded exclusively for the game, as well as music from Get Rich or Die Tryin' and The Massacre. And, as an added bonus, the game will offer a sound studio mode in which gamers can mix and match new original freestyles by 50 Cent with new beats straight from the G Unit camp.

Alchemist Is EM's New DJ
Approximately two weeks after Green Lantern left Shady Records, the powerhouse label has recruited producer Alchemist to spin for Slim. Al, who has previously toured with Cypress Hill and served as Mobb Deep's tour DJ, is set to begin his new job on the upcoming Anger Management 3 tour.
"As of now, we're set to do this tour coming up. Basically, the management, Goliath, Neil [Maman] (Al's brother and co-manager) and Paul [Rosenberg] (Al and Em's manager) were just brainstorming and they approached me and asked if I would be interested in doing it. I was like, ‘Yeah, that would be dope,'" Al told SOHH.com. "I respect Em a lot musically. We've been down over the years. We did a couple of things like the Tone Touch back in the day on Tone's album ["Get Back" feat D12 off of Tony Touch's 1997 album The Piecemaker].
Like Green Lantern before him, Al has ties to G-Unit rival, D-Block. To date, the producer has crafted standouts like Jadakiss' "We Gon Make It" and Styles P's current single, "I'm Black." Now a new addition to the Shady/Aftermath/G-Unit family, Al doesn't think he'll get caught up in their feuds. -Props 2 Sohh.com-

Triumph 2 Star In "Ass Like That" Video
Eminem has kissed and made up with Triumph, The Insult Comic Dog, by asking the rude hand puppet to star in his new video "Ass Like That".
Triumph hit the headlines in 2002 after upsetting a grumpy Eminem in the audience at the MTV Video Music Awards with a live comedy routine the rapper didn't appreciate.
But now the rap star can see the funny side and he's donning the puppet in his comic new video, in which Triumph will sniff backsides on a fake Hollywood red carpet.
The puppet and the rapper will also re-enact their famous feud for the promo.

EM Signs 8 Mile Road Bricks 4 Charity
Eminem, who grew up on both sides of 8 Mile Road, is helping revitalize the highway he made famous in a hit song and film.
The 32-year-old rapper, born Marshall Mathers III, has autographed 30 bricks from the recently demolished Detroit Artillery Armory on 8 Mile in Oak Park. One brick was auctioned last month, and the rest are to auctioned on eBay within the next month.
Proceeds will be split between Eminem's charity, the Marshall Mathers Foundation, and the Eight Mile Boulevard Association.
The association, a coalition of 13 cities, Wayne, Macomb and Oakland counties and several businesses, asked Eminem to sign the bricks. It plans to use its share of the auction proceeds for revitalization efforts along 8 Mile.
"He's identified with 8 Mile Road, and he's famous," Association President Barry Brickner told the Detroit Free Press for a Thursday story.
The bricks are painted gold and covered with a clear sealant on the side bearing Eminem's autograph, said Tami Salisbury, the association's executive director. The bricks will be packaged with DVD copies of 2002's "8 Mile" film.
R. Miles Handy, supervisor of Wayne County's Redford Township, submitted the winning bid of $300 for the first brick, which says "Save 8 Mile Slim Shady 2005."
"Here's a kid who lived close to 8 Mile, now is one of the largest entertainers in the country," said Handy, 40. "I think it's a pretty nice piece of history."
Eminem grew up in Detroit and Warren — cities divided by 8 Mile Road — as well as Roseville and St. Clair Shores. He now lives in Rochester Hills in a 29-room, 15,000-square-foot mansion.

DJ Green Lantern Leaves Shady Records
DJ Green Lantern has announced his departure from the Shady Records / Interscope family tree. As rumors of why the DJ left circulate the streets, it is apparent that a conversation he shared with Jadakiss -- where he was videotaped without knowledge -- was the driving force in his decision to leave.
On a DVD entitled On The Come Up Volume 5, Green Lantern speaks with Kiss about his on-going battle with 50 Cent, resulting in him leaving Shady Records, his Sirius Satellite Shade 45 radio show, and this summer's highly anticipated Anger Management 3 tour.
"Basically, the situation is... I have left Shady Records due to a situation that may cause some tension between Eminem and 50 Cent," Green Lantern told Allhiphop.com in a recent interview. "I removed myself from that situation before any tension could occur between Em and 50. It was like before [Eminem] could even make a decision about it, I was like 'I'm out,' and it was mutual."
Although it seems as if the DJ betrayed his extended family in G-Unit, he believes he didn't say anything out of line, but does feel he shouldn't have spoken on the situation regarding the G-Unit general.
"I was calling [Jadakiss] to tell him that we won the Mixtape of the Year for the mixtape that we did together, and this just so happened to be the day after he released his response record to the 50 s**t," Green Lantern told Allhiphop.com. "I'm giving him – even though I shouldn't have – giving him my critique on his song. In a polite manner, I'm telling him, 'Yo, B, step it up. That wasn't it,' but my words were 'that's a jab, where is the knock-out?' I was telling him to step his game up. To the casual listener, it seems like I want somebody to knock 50 Cent out."
Green Lantern goes on to say that he wishes 50 Cent, G-Unit, and Shady Records the best, but feels like he was betrayed by Jadakiss, and further explains that he isn't a traitor for what he did.
"It's a disappointing situation to say the least. Anybody that knows me knows that I ain’t no snake-like cat. I f--k with the people that I f--ked with and this is somebody [Jadakiss] that I f--ked with and he did me dirty," added Green Lantern.
With no label to call home, Green Lantern stated that he will continue to do his thing, and says he "ain't going nowhere." As for the album he was expected to drop on Shady Records, he is currently fielding offers from various labels and has renamed the album The Invasion.

Kim Back In Jail For Cocaine Use
MOUNT CLEMENS, Mich. -- Eminem's ex-wife was sentenced to serve at least a month in jail yesterday for using cocaine while on probation. Judge Edward Servitto ordered Kimberly Mathers to serve 30 days in jail and then be transferred to an inpatient substance abuse treatment program for 90 days.
Mathers, who's the target of some of the rapper's songs, admitted a week ago to her probation agent she was using cocaine, the Michigan Department of Corrections said.
She tested positive for the drug after taking a urine test during a Jan. 29 meeting with the probation agent. She missed a meeting last week but met with the agent and admitted using cocaine, officials said.
Mathers was sentenced Jan. 21 to two years' probation after pleading guilty to charges of possessing 25 grams or less of cocaine and failing to give adequate space to an emergency vehicle. The charges came from a June traffic stop.

EM Wins Case Against School Bully
Eminem scored a courtroom victory on Friday (April 15) when a lawsuit filed by an ex-classmate — who accused the rapper of falsely depicting him on a 1999 track — was dismissed.
A three-judge state appeals court panel agreed with a Macomb County, Michigan, judge's 2003 decision, finding that "Brain Damage" should not be interpreted literally. In it, Em raps, "I was harassed daily by this fat kid named DeAngelo Bailey" and also raps about the school principal joining Bailey in "stomping" him.
Bailey sued the rapper in 2001, alleging the track from 1999's The Slim Shady LP invaded his privacy by publicizing negative false information about him (see "Alleged Bully From Eminem's 'Brain Damage' Files $1 Million Suit"). Bailey admitted in interviews that he bullied Eminem, but not to the extent of the track, which says, "He banged my head against the urinal till he broke my nose/ Soaked my clothes in blood, grabbed me and choked my throat."
The case was originally tossed out by Macomb County Circuit Judge Deborah Servitto who, in addition to a regular opinion, wrote a rap verse explaining her ruling (see "Eminem's Tormentor Sees Case Thrown Out; Judge Raps Her Decision"). "Bailey thinks he's entitled to some monetary gain/ Because Eminem used his name in vain," she wrote. "The lyrics are stories no one would take as fact/ They're an exaggeration of a childish act/ It is therefore this court's ultimate position/ That Eminem is entitled to summary disposition."
The appeals court, which chose not to rap its decision, also wrote that Bailey failed to present a genuine factual issue in the suit. Bailey's attorney, Byron Nolen, told The Associated Press he did not plan to appeal to the Michigan Supreme Court.

Benzino Resigns From The Source
Hip-hop star RAY BENZINO has resigned from his position as chief brand executive and co-owner of THE SOURCE magazine, citing his longrunning feud with EMINEM as one of the reasons.
Benzino stepped down from his position yesterday (08APR05), also blaming politics and other nearby business partnerships.
He tells website ALLHIPHOP.COM in a statement, "I want to step down from the magazine and sell my stock effective immediately.
"This is a big step for me. I've been consumed too much withthe whole conflict thing, the Eminem suit and I am sick of it. I don't want to take away from what The Source has built up, but I got issues with The Source and magazines like that.

EMINEM AND 50 CENT ANNOUNCE SUMMER TOUR: "ANGER MANAGEMENT 3" TO HIT THE ROAD BEGINNING JULY 7
LIL JON & THE EAST SIDE BOYZ, G-UNIT, D-12, OBIE TRICE, STAT QUO TO ROUND OUT BILL
The third installment of the Anger Management tour will be on the road beginning July 7, it was announced today. This will be the first tour Eminem has done since the November 12 release of his latest album, Encore, which is approaching five-times platinum sales in the U.S.
Joining Eminem on tour for all but the first two dates is 50 Cent, whose new album, The Massacre was released on March 8, and has already sold almost 3 million copies. This is the first U.S. tour that pairs Eminem with partner in rhyme 50 Cent. Like Eminem and his Shady Records family, this will be a family affair for 50, with G-Unit joining him on the road. 50 Cent is just beginning to shoot his film debut, and due to the movie's production schedule he will be unable to appear at the first two dates, Indianapolis, IN and Columbus, OH. Ludacris will be taking his slot for those shows. King of Crunk Lil Jon along with his East Side Boyz will start of the night off right for the entire tour.
"We've been waiting for the right moment to go on tour, and it all finally came together," said Eminem. "We wanted to put together the best lineup we could...I'm always trying to top the last tour whenever I go out. I think we're really doing it this time."
Eminem's entire Shady Records family will be on the road with him for the five and a half week run. Besides hearing songs from Encore performed live for the first time, concertgoers will see performances from D-12, Obie Trice, and the newest addition to the family, Atlanta's Stat Quo, who recently signed to Shady/Aftermath and is already creating a buzz at press and radio. Shady artist and award-winning mixtape king Green Lantern will, as usual, be behind the turntables.
50 Cent added: "Whenever I get together with Em you know it's going to be hot. Right now, I don't see anything that will stop this from being the tour of the summer. You better put in for that time off from the job now, before somebody else beats you to it. Or quit your job so you can see every show."
Those who can't quit their jobs can tune in to Sirius Satellite Radio's Shade 45 channel all summer long for tour coverage, exclusive live performances, and backstage interviews. Also coming this summer is the DVD from 2002's Anger Management tour, which features live performances from Eminem and D-12.
The tour will wrap in Detroit with two shows at the home of the Detroit Tigers, Comerica Park. These shows promise to be as legendary as the one-off hometown show at Detroit's Ford Field in 2003. Dates are as follows:
July 7 - Indianapolis, IN - Verizon Wireless Music Center

G-Unit Excited About Possible Tour With 50 Cent, Eminem
Though Interscope says a summer tour featuring Eminem and 50 Cent is still just in the talking phase, the members of G-Unit are talking like it's a done deal.
Last week in Cancun, Mexico, during the MTV-hosted spring break festivities, the squad was all smiles when asked about rocking with the general later this year. "If Fif goes on tour, the whole crew gotta go," 50's "Candy Shop" co-star Olivia said. "Everybody is so happy."
Lloyd Banks, who has been performing nonstop by himself on the Hunger for More tour the past several months, also said he can't wait to get onstage with the whole family again.
"You ain't gotta worry about missing a word 'cause I'mma catch it, [Young] Buck gon' catch it," Banks said of the chemistry that comes from working together for several years. "We balance each other out as far as the energy goes. If somebody's tired, somebody has to pick up the pace. I think people know and realize we're very comfortable onstage together. I look forward to it, and to being out there with Em too."
The G-Unit are going to be releasing an abundance of material in the next few months. Olivia's Behind Closed Doors is due in May, followed by Tony Yayo's Thoughts of a Predicate Felon this summer.

Both Sides Claim Victory In Eminem Court Case
Controversial rapper EMINEM's Manhattan Federal Court case with THE SOURCE magazine neared its conclusion yesterday (16MAR05) with both sides claiming victory.
The STAN star sued for copyright infringement after the hip-hop publication printed lyrics recorded by a then angst-ridden teenage Eminem in which he labelled black girls "dumb".
The 32-year-old's lawyer DONALD DAVID says, "There is nothing left to win. The judge already decided we have the copyright, and he awarded us $131,000 in sanctions. So the case has no purpose anymore."
The Source co-owner DAVID MAYS also left the court in triumphant mood: "They want this withdrawal so they can avoid the public embarrassment of having Eminem on trial in New York."
Mays contends the fate of the lawsuit will be decided next week (21MAR05) when Judge GERARD LYNCH rules whether the case has been withdrawn "with prejudice". The magazine would then be free to publish Eminem's lyrics.
He adds, "We have been vindicated whichever way it goes."

50 & Game Call a Truce
Perhaps selling 1.1 million copies of his new album in four days has softened the heart of 50 Cent. Or maybe he has so many feuds going, he can afford to let one go. On Wednesday, 50 Cent and The Game publicly squashed a bitter feud that had erupted into gunfire last week after 50 kicked Game out of his G-Unit clique for disloyalty.
The two platinum-selling gangsta rappers didn't exactly kiss and make up. When they emerged before a media throng at Harlem's famed Schomburg Center for Research in Black Culture, both looked as if they'd been shoved into apologies by a stern mother.
But they did shake hands, albeit at the end of the press conference, after speaking about contrition and the need for peace.
50 noted that Wednesday was the anniversary of the unsolved murder of Biggie Smalls in 1997, the culmination of a rap war between Biggie and Tupac Shakur that pitted East Coast against West.
"We're here today to show that people can rise above the most difficult circumstances and together we can put negativity behind us," said 50, a native New Yorker. "A lot of people don't want to see it happen, but we're responding to the two most important groups, our family and our fans."
"I just want to apologize on behalf of myself and 50," said Game, who's from the Los Angeles suburb of Compton. "I'm almost ashamed to have participated in the things that happened in the last couple of weeks."
50 presented an oversized check for $150,000 to the Boys Choir of Harlem. Game donated $103,500. It was not clear why Game chose that amount or whether he had been reinstated in G-Unit; no questions were taken at the press conference. They also both made contributions to the Compton schools music program.

50 To Turn His Back on Dre & EM??
Heads are saying that Eminem and Dr. Dre are none too happy with all the beef 50 Cent has gotten into lately, in particular, the problems with fellow Aftermath/G-Unit artist Game. Likewise, it seems that 50 may be taking exception to Em's lack of support and a diss track towards Em and Dre may be on the way. 50 has recently complained that Interscope didn't pay enough attention to his project, and he had to put out "Disco Inferno" himself just to get the ball rolling. The rumor mill says the Queens rapper will possibly leave Shady/Aftermath and take his G-Unit clan with him.

50 Cent Boots the Game From G-Unit Clique
Another day, another feud for 50 Cent. This time, he's beefing with his own protege, the best-selling rapper The Game.
Actually, make that former protege.
In an interview on hip-hop radio station Hot 97 Monday night, 50 announced that he was kicking The Game out of his G-Unit clique because of disloyalty - for refusing to take 50's side in his latest battles with high-profile rappers. Then a shooting occurred outside the radio station, wounding one man, police said.
At the time, 50 Cent was inside speaking on the radio - the interview ended abruptly as security people escorted the rapper out the building, a spokesman for the radio station said.
"No one from Hot 97 witnessed this incident," said Alex Dudley, the Hot 97 (WQHT-FM in New York) spokesman.
Investigators, still trying to sort out the chaotic scene, suspected 50's comments were heard on the radio by associates of The Game, including the shooting victim. The associates allegedly went to the radio station, where they were met outside by members of 50 Cent's entourage and the violence erupted, police said.
It was unclear whether The Game was directly involved, police said.
No arrests have been made. An unidentified, 24-year-old Los Angeles man was in stable condition with a gunshot wound to the upper thigh.
Police also were investigating a report of a second shooting incident about two hours later outside a building where the company that manages 50 Cent - named Violator - has offices. Witnesses said two men fired eight shots through the building's front door, then fled. No one was injured.
"The Massacre" was scheduled for release March 8 but was moved up to Thursday because it's so hotly anticipated. The first single from the album, "Candy Shop," is already No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart.
The Los Angeles-based rapper The Game seemed to be following in 50's footsteps. Like 50, he was a former drug dealer, had been shot several times and used rap as his way out of a life of crime. And like 50, who was introduced under the wings of Eminem, The Game rode 50's coattails into the rap world.
The Game's album "The Documentary" debuted at No. 1 when it was released in January and features 50 on several songs, including the album's hit "How We Do."
The Game apparently drew 50 Cent's ire after an interview appearance on Hot 97 Saturday night, in which he supported 50's enemies.
"I ain't gonna turn on my friends and Nas is one of my friends, and Jada's really a homie ... 50's beef is 50's beef and I really don't know where all this stems from."
On Monday's show, 50 said The Game was no longer part of G-Unit and claimed responsibility for his success.
"Every record he's selling is based on me being on his record with him," he said.
"I think he's making more and more enemies," Wilson said of 50. "You definitely feel like is he doing too much of a Tupac spiral, like me against the world. You bring more people wanting to see you fail."

EM's NU Video 4 "Mockingbird" Premieres February 21
It’s official. Eminem’s next video, from his four million plus sold album Encore, is “Mockingbird.” Never before has the world seen this side of Eminem – or his family. Using actual home movies, the video gives a first hand glimpse into his private family life. In the video, Eminem is shown watching footage of his daughter Hailie, his niece Lanie and, of course, his now famous ex-wife Kim. This video marks a new precedent for the famous rapper, for in the past, actresses played the part of Eminem’s daughter, as he tried to keep her out of the media.
The “Mockingbird” video closely follows the lyrics of the deeply personal song. In it, actual home footage provides new insight into Eminem and his lyrics. For example, the home video connects the audience to some of the most memorable lyrics in the song – “I remember back one year when daddy had no money, Mommy wrapped the Christmas presents up and stuck them under the tree, and said some of them were from me, coz daddy couldn’t buy ‘em.”
Don’t get it twisted though; Eminem stays controversial with scenes such as the “Welcome Home Mommy” portion of the video, which depicts his ex-wife getting home from jail.
Eminem will personally debut his new video on MTV’s “TRL” Monday, February 21. Look for the video to hit the internet the same day. -Props 2 Rapbasement.com-

50 Compares EM 2 Serena Williams
Rap superstar 50 CENT lives in awe of the success of his mentor EMINEM and likens him to tennis champion SERENA WILLIAMS.
Eminem has defied racial stereotype to conquer the hip-hop world, much like Williams, who became the first black player to win a grand slam tennis title in 40 year when she won the US OPEN in 1999.
50 Cent, whose real name is CURTIS JACKSON, says, "I think Em' is like Serena Williams, the tennis player.
"There's no particular gender or race which is supposed to be involved in things, it's universal. Music is universal.
"Em' happens to be one of the best writers I've ever come across. Not many people are as talented."

EM, 50, and Linkin Park Eyeing Tour 2gether?
After a year when no stadium tours were on the road, very preliminary talks are underway for a monster stadium-level package that would include Eminem, 50 Cent, Linkin Park, and at least one other rock act, sources tell Billboard.com.
Rumblings of a potential Em/50 tour were bouncing around late in 2004), and now the concept seems to have expanded. The agent for both artists at the William Morris Agency could not be reached for comment.
Given the multi-platinum status of all three acts, plus the fact that 50 Cent and Eminem have been noticeably absent from the North American touring marketplace, the tour would likely be one of the most lucrative treks of the year.
In 2004, Linkin Park grossed more than $35 million, 15th among all touring acts, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Detroit Rapper Charged In Death of Ferndale Studio Owner
Detroit rapper charged in death of Ferndale studio owner
A Detroit rapper was charged Tuesday with the shooting death of Amjed "AJ" Abdallah, who owned a recording studio used by Eminem and other artists, Ferndale police said.
Terrence Terrell Moore, 36, was arraigned in 43rd District Court in Ferndale on a charge of first-degree murder. He also is accused of stealing a mixing board from the Ferndale studio, which was known as Studio 8, according to Detective Lt. Norm Raymond.
Abdallah, a 36-year-old native of Jordan, was found dead Jan. 4 in the studio. He had been shot twice. His brother called Ferndale police the night of his death and told them Abdallah was worried about some men who accused him of overcharging them for studio time, Raymond said.
Moore has recorded at least one album under the nickname "13" and also goes by the nicknames "TT" and "Mad Dog," Raymond said.
Police narrowed their search after a pawn shop owner in Detroit said Moore tried to pawn a mixing board for $5,000 a few days after the murder, Raymond said. The pawn shop owner refused to take it because it didn't have a serial number. A beer can with Moore's fingerprints also was found at the crime scene, police said.
Moore confessed to the murder and told police he stole the mixing board to make it look like the shooting was committed during a robbery, Raymond said. A judge entered a plea of not guilty on Moore's behalf Tuesday. He will get a court-appointed defense attorney. -Props 2 DetroitNews.com-

Eminem, Source Co-Owner Exchange Angry Words At Detroit Radio Station
It seems that there is no resolution in sight in the ongoing verbal feud between Eminem and The Source. On Tuesday evening in Detroit, Em and Source co-owner David Mays got into an off-air verbal confrontation at radio statio WDTJ-FM.
Reports are still coming in, but according to sources close to the altercation, Mays was being interviewed at the station for an evening radio program. Some of Mays' words were directed toward the Motor City SoundScan king.
Shortly thereafter, Eminem arrived at the station with approximately 10 men. While sources say that no violence took place, there was plenty of shouting and four-letter words being flung.
Neither Eminem, his reps, nor spokespeople for WDTJ would comment on the matter. Wednesday night, though, Mays told MTV he was shocked to see Eminem in the flesh.
"I wasn't expecting for him to show up; he doesn't go anywhere in public," Mays said. "Nobody ever sees this guy. People were like, 'Is it really him?' I don't understand what his purpose was. I'm up there by myself, he had all his people."
Mays said the confrontation was brief, lasting all of two minutes. Like his partner Benzino, Mays says he wants to have another face-to-face with Slim Shady, but next time he hopes it's to sit down and discuss hip-hop.
"My attorneys are sending correspondence to his attorneys relating to this thing as well as the ongoing lawsuit," Mays revealed. "The point of it is that we need to have a real discussion. People in business, men, human beings, resolve differences. These people can't come to the table and discuss issues."

Eminem 'Never Wanted To Squash The Beef,' Benzino Says; Fires Back In New Video
"These guys are all about spin," Benzino said Tuesday. "He never wanted to squash the beef. He said in another publication that he would never sit down with me. If he did want to come forth and address these issues, that would be a great thing because of his influence. But he's never had the desire to sit down with me."
In fact, Benzino has crafted "Look Into My Eyes" as a response to Slim Shady's "Like Toy Soldiers," which featured the fictional murder of D12 member Proof. The video picks up where "Like Toy Soldiers" leaves off: In the opening scene, an Eminem lookalike calls a character named Jimmy (presumably a reference to Interscope Records honcho Jimmy Iovine) from the hospital to tell him that he wants to get out of the business because he's been scared by Proof's death.
"He's dead, he's dead — they killed him, Jimmy," the Eminem character says. The Jimmy character tries to calm Eminem down, reminding him that he said there would be casualties. However, Eminem cannot be consoled and says he wants to quit.
While Benzino is never named by either character, it is insinuated that he's to blame for Proof's death. As the video continues, there are shots of police raiding a warehouse where Benzino and his crew are holed up. While Benzino isn't killed on camera, he is later shown as an angel rising to heaven, and at the end of the video, "Jimmy" telephones someone and says, "It's done."
"The guy that shoots Proof in ['Like Toy Soldiers'] is supposed to be me," Benzino said. "What he's so afraid of happening in that video happens in the 'hood every day. I have lost three friends — one of them died in my arms — like that. 'Look Into My Eyes' addresses all of that. He's never gone through what we've been through in the 'hood."

Eminem's Lawsuit Against The Source Going To Trial
Eminem and The Source magazine will finally get to settle their beef ... at least in court, that is.
On Monday, New York federal court judge Gerald E. Lynch ruled that Slim Shady's copyright-infringement lawsuit against the hip-hop publication would go to trial.
The trial is the latest development in the ongoing war of words between Em and The Source owners Ray Benzino and Dave Mays. The suit itself stems from the magazine's release of excerpts of two of Eminem's early recordings where the rapper can be heard making offensive comments about black women.

Police Investigating Murder At Eminem's Former Studio
Ferndale police are investigating the discovery of a body at the recording studio where rapper Eminem recorded his first mainstream album.
Police identified the victim as Amjed A. (A.J.) Abdallah, 36, who was found on the first floor entryway of Studio 8, 430 W. 8 Mile, located at Eight Mile and Woodward. Abdallah was the owner of the recording studio.
Police believe three shots were fired and it appeared Abadallah had been shot twice, according to Local 4 reports from the scene.
Robbery may have been a motive for the murder, Local 4 reported. Ferndale police said some expensive recording equipment may be missing from the studio.
The body was discovered by a customer who came into the studio and saw a man lying on the floor about 11:30 a.m. Tuesday. The customer went next door to a heating and cooling business where workers there notified police.

Eminem Makes Santa's 'Nice' List, Hits #1 On Albums Chart
Despite spending the majority of 2004 baiting everyone from Michael Jackson to George W. Bush, it looks like Eminem still found a way to make it onto Santa's "nice" list.
His Encore album benefited the most from the Christmas-week sales surge, moving more than 429,000 copies to land the #1 spot on next week's Billboard albums chart, according to SoundScan. It's the third time in the past six weeks that Em has topped the chart, and thanks to all those frantic last-minute shoppers, sales of Encore have now moved past the 3 million mark. -Props 2 mtv.com-

Eminem can't be disappointed by next week's chart. For starters, he produced Tupac's album, and his own Encore will move up two spots to #4. Its weekly total of 315,000 copies is also a 15 percent improvement over last week's sum. -Props 2 mtv.com-

Shady LP Studio Being Sold On e-bay
Starting Wednesday on eBay's commercial real estate site, fans of Em can bid on the yellow building with brown trim at 430 Eight Mile Road — affectionately known as Studio 8 — where the rapper worked on material for his breakout album, The Slim Shady LP.
No matter — the equipment isn't up for sale, only the building is, so unfortunately the winning bidder won't get to twiddle the same knobs that Slim Shady once did. But, as Giltner pointed out, it is an opportunity to own a rather large chunk of hip-hop memorabilia, and bidding starts at a mere $215,000. -Props 2 mtv.com-

EM Went Crazy w/2Pac's A Cappellas
Eminem was so moved by Pac that he
approached Shakur's mother, Afeni, and asked to work on the deceased icon's next posthumous album, Loyal to the Game.
"I wrote to Afeni and said, 'Please consider letting me produce this album,' " he told MTV News a few weeks ago in Detroit. I just basically dropped a little note to her letting her know what her son meant to me as well as a lot of other people in the industry. She gave me the blessing, she gave me the green light and I was like, 'Thank you. Thank you for the opportunity.' "
Eminem produced tracks for the "Tupac: Resurrection" soundtrack last year (most notably "Runnin' (Dying to Live)," which also featured the Notorious B.I.G.) and ended up providing beats for 13 tracks on Loyal to the Game. The first single is "Thugs Get Lonely Too," featuring Nate Dogg (see " 'Thugs Get Lonely Too,' Tupac Says On Eminem-Produced Track").
"I was given some Tupac a cappellas and just went crazy with them," Slim Shady said. "It's been a longtime dream for me to be able to get to a level of being able to produce not only other artists, but somebody that I looked up to in general. People will see when it comes out. It is what it is, I'm bumping it right now."
During recent weeks, more and more of the album — including the title track featuring the G-Unit, and "Po N---a Blues," which has a guest spot from Jadakiss — has leaked to the streets. Much to the chagrin of his mother's company, Amaru Entertainment, Tupac's entire LP was just illegally pirated and can now be found on the Internet.
Amaru released a statement admonishing the bootlegging with the hope of dissuading fans from downloading. "The reality of today's music industry is that Internet piracy and bootlegging run rampant like a plague," the statement read. "Tupac had always said that he could not do any of this without his fans and today is no different. It's your undying loyalty to Tupac and your undying devotion to carrying out his legacy in a respectful manner that gave us enough warning to take measures to ensure an early release of our album."
As of right now, Loyal to the Game still has a release date of December 14, according to Interscope. Afeni Shakur plans on using a portion of the proceeds to build a Tupac Amaru Shakur center for the arts in Stone Mountain, Georgia.

Ja Gives EM & 50 Props
Hip-hop star JA RULE is set to shock fans by praising his rivals EMINEM and 50 CENT.
The LIVIN' IT UP hitmaker insists he's "moving on" from the "childish" feuds with the hip-hop heavyweights, and while he continues to dislike Eminem and his protege 50 Cent, Ja Rule respects their talent.
Ja Rule says, "I was never into Eminem's music. He's a good rapper, but he never talks about the things that I relate to. I never bought any of his albums.
"The other guy, 50, on the other hand, he makes some good records, he talks about topics that I've gone through. We come from the same neighbourhood and I think that's where the jealously stems from: in my neighbourhood I'm the top dog, and he's not, so I guess he wanted to smear me in the rap world."

Encore #1 2nd Week in a Row
Eminem has become the first artist to bow twice at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 pop albums chart with abbreviated sales weeks.
In the space of roughly three days -- although many locations put it out a day ahead of its adjusted Friday, Nov. 12 street date -- "Encore" (Shady/Aftermath) sold through 711,000 copies, according to Nielsen SoundScan. (Albums are generally released on a Tuesday; Eminem's was released early to combat physical and online piracy.)
Even with a truncated frame, that still stands as the fourth-largest sales week of 2004.

Shady National Convention a Success
With help from surprise guests, Eminem launched his Sirius Satellite Radio Shade 45 channel at the Shady National Convention at New York's Roseland Ballroom last night.
In addition to celebrating the launch of the new channel, the night served as a platform for artists to bash current president George W. Bush. Early on, the convention's political theme was evident as delegates from across the country crowded the stage and the venue was filled with "I Will Vote" signs.
After an extensive delay, Busta Rhymes came out to speak on the night's festivities. Bus-A-Bus' brief speech was followed by P. Diddy supposedly introducing Eminem. Just as conventioneers grew tired of dancing to the latest Hip-Hop tunes, Method Man popped up to stall the restless crowd. Finally, after another lengthy delay, Em, dressed in suit and tie, finally took the stage to promote the launch of his new channel and snap at the president in the process.
Slim treated the audience to cuts like "Square Dance," "Kill You" and "White America" before bringing out D12 and B. Real of Cypress Hill. Slim later introduced Shady Records' newest artist, Atlanta's Stat Quo before Obie Trice took the stage. Obie closed his set with 'Oh!' accompanied by Busta doing the hook. Busta teased the crowd by performing an abbreviated version of "Break Yo Neck" twice.
The atmosphere reached a fever pitch when 50 Cent joined Em and Obie to perform "Love Me" and "Patiently Waiting." 50 ended his short set with "In Da Club" assisted by Tony Yayo. Slim then closed the evening with his present hit "Just Lose It" as balloons descended on the crowd.

Encore Tracklist Leaked
The tracklisting for Eminem's forthcoming album has been leaked online, despite desperate attempts to keep details under lock and key. The names of all the tracks on Encore , which is released next month , were being kept top secret to avoid any illegal internet file-sharing.
But, although the release is surrounded by stringent security, the 20 song titles have now been published. They include the single "Just Lose It", "Mosh" which slams President Bush and "Yellow Brick Road" to name a few.

EM Will Vote 4 His 1st Time
Eminem plans to vote for the first time ever this year, and while he's highly critical of President Bush ), he hasn't yet settled on Democrat John Kerry.
"Bush is definitely not my homie," the rap superstar said in an interview with Rolling Stone, parts of which were posted Thursday on the magazine's Web site. "But I'm still undecided. Kerry has been known to say some things that's caught my attention, made a few statements I've liked, but I don't know. Whatever my decision, I would like to see Bush out of office."
"He's been painted to be this hero and he's got our troops over there dying for no reason," Eminem said in the interview. "He's in a tailspin, running around like a dog chasing his tail. And we got young people over there dyin', kids in their teens, early '20s that should have futures ahead of them. And for what? It seems like Vietnam 2."
A Michigan resident, the rapper said he worries his 18-year old brother could be drafted if Bush remains president. Bush has said flatly he would not reinstitute the draft if re-elected.
"People think their votes don't count, but people need to get out and vote," Eminem said.

SNC Launches EM's Radio Station and Album in Style
The rapper will make a rare performance at New York's Roseland Ballroom on 28 October (04) for a show which will air live on satellite radio network SIRIUS.
The show will launch Sirius' uncensored new hip-hop channel, SHADY 45, which will feature Eminem as a regular contributor.
The rapper is billing the show as the SHADY NATIONAL CONVENTION, and will perform tracks from his new album ENCORE.
Organizers also announced the establishment of a "red carpet" entrance where Eminem will make statements to select members of the local and national media. "When you lock down a leader like Marshall Mathers for an event like this, you're not sure whether he will be interacting with the media on a red carpet ... he hasn't done so in years," remarked a convention insider. "We're happy to report that Mr. Mathers will indeed be tackling the issues on the red carpet at this event. America is calling, and he's accepting the charges." -Props 2 Contactmusic.com and Yahoo.com-

MJ Fumes Over EM's Video On Radio
Michael Jackson is stepping up his public whimpering over that new Eminem video that portrays the Gloved One as a child molester.
"I am very angry at Eminem's depiction of me in his video ['Just Lose It']," Jackson told radio host Steve Harvey yesterday. "I feel that it is outrageous and disrespectful. It is one thing to spoof, but it is another to be demeaning and insensitive.
"I've admired Eminem as an artist and was shocked by this," Jackson, 46, went on. "The video was inappropriate and disrespectful to me, my children, my family and the community at large."
Slim Shady's latest satire features the rapper dressed like Jackson, sitting on a bed with young boys jumping in the background. The lyric says: "Come here, little kiddie, on my lap."
Jackson applauded Black Entertainment Television for pulling the video.
BET Chairman Robert Johnson said in a statement that "Just Lose It" was yanked because it was "inappropriate to use our network to air a video disparaging Michael's character, or that of any other celebrity."
Jackson, a BET Walk of Fame honoree, said: "It is my hope that the other networks will take BET's lead and pull it."
A rep for BET confirms that Jackson personally made an appeal to Johnson over the weekend.
Eminem spokesman Dennis Dennehy would say only, "We are sorry that BET made this decision."

EM 2 Host SNL 10/30
Looks like the folks at NBC are putting something a little "shady" in everyone's Halloween bags this year. But whether it's a trick or a treat remains to be seen.
The Peacock has announced that Eminem will host "Saturday Night Live" on Oct. 30, the night before Halloween.
The often-controversial rapper has been the musical guest on "SNL" twice before, but has never hosted.
Other upcoming hosts include Queen Latifah on Oct. 9 and Jude Law, along with musical guest Ashlee Simpson on Oct. 23.
Ben Affleck kicks off "SNL's" 30th anniversary season this Saturday, with rapper Nelly as the musical guest.

EM Attacks Bush On Encore Album
EMINEM has made his dislike for US President GEORGE BUSH clear on forthcoming album ’ENCORE’.
Retailers in LA got early listens of the Dr Dre produced album at a party hosted by Interscope president Jimmy Iovine, and say that much of the content is politically charged.
One said: "The cuts we heard were very political. Eminem’s distaste for the Bush administration is pretty clear," reports Rolling Stone.
Longtime collaborator Dre and 50 Cent both appear on the album, which is tipped by retailers to shift over one million copies in its first week.
"I think it's possible," says Kevin Cassidy, executive VP of retail operations at Tower Records. "Prior to ‘8 Mile’, Eminem was a premier rapper. Now he's a premier artist."
The album, which features new single ‘Just Lose It’, may also feature a limited edition bonus disc of songs that were leaked onto the net last year.

New Eminem Album, Encore, Due In November
It turns out Eminem's show has an encore — fans just had to wait two and a half years for it, rather than the typical couple of minutes.
The rapper otherwise known as Slim Shady will release Encore, the follow-up to 2002's smash The Eminem Show, on November 16. Details on the release, such as the first single or collaborators, have not yet been revealed, but Em's spokesperson said the album will feature all new material.
Encore will hit shelves around the same time as another album featuring Eminem, a collection of unreleased Tupac tracks with Em as one of the producers. -Props 2 mtv.com-
